Deano’s answer to: “How can I mount an iPhone on a bicycle so I can video record a bike ride?”

There are a lot of tripod threaded base units for bicycles, but I really like the ones that are easily removable, since you could also use them as mounts at your destination: http://amzn.to/jomhF8

Pair that with something like theglif.com, and perhaps a rubberband to reduce anxiety of the phone flying free…

In terms of dedicated solutions, I'm not a huge fan – mono-purpose is lame in cooking and film – but you might at least get some good visuals and potential search keywords from here: http://www.mountguys.com/product…

I'd only use a rig like that on a road bike – for off road, you really need a good dedicated helmet mounted cam – with higher framerate recording, lots of built-in jitter reduction, etc. I recommend both the Contour and GoPro camera lines – the GoPro has a nice "upgrade" feature in that you could eventually mount two together, and record your rides in 3D.
